Meet Our Staff

Kerri-Lynn Vallentin B.Sc, D.Ch, IIWCC
Registered Chiropodist

My name is Kerri-Lynn Vallentin, I am originally from Ancaster, a small community near Hamilton, Ontario. After completing a science degree from the University of Toronto I entered the chiropody program at the Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences and graduated in 2003.

After graduating I started my first chiropody job as an associate for a chiropodist with private clinics in Oakville and Milton.  During that time, 2003, I also took another position in a private multidisciplinary clinic, the Hamilton Family Chiropractic and Wellness Centre.   At this private clinic I provided care to people of all ages addressing a broad range of foot health needs including biomechanical assessments, orthotic and footwear management, general foot care (nails, corns, calluses, warts etc) and soft tissue surgery.  In 2004 I also took a temporary part-time position at St. Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton which shortly became a regular full-time position (I continued to work at the chiropractic clinic evenings and weekends).  St. Peter’s hospital chiropody clinic is an outpatient and inpatient clinic providing high-risk foot and wound care for the surrounding community.  In addition to providing high risk foot and wound care I offered group patient education sessions, education sessions for other health care practitioners, and I organized and ran a wound care symposium for health care practitioners.  The funds collected from this symposium allowed the clinic to purchase equipment that the hospital was unable to fund.  Also, I was a member of the Skin and Wound Care Committee, Infection Control Committee, Quality Practice Committee and Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.  Through my participation with the Skin and Wound Care Committee I decided to take the International Interprofessional Wound Care Course, which offers enhanced evidence-based wound care training.  This course allowed me to enhance my skills and keep up-to-date on advances in wound care treatment. I stayed at St.Peter’s until 2010 when we started at the Huntsville Foot Health Centre.

I am sure at this point you are asking yourself “why Huntsville?” My husband and I were raised as cottagers we have three young children.  My parents have a cottage 45 minutes north- west of Huntsville and my husband spent many years at a family resort in Bancroft.  We have spent countless weekends at my parents’ cottage and camping with our kids.  We love fishing, campfires, water-skiing, tubing and boating.  We eventually hoped to retire to the Muskoka area, and then, by chance, we stumble across this great opportunity.
